Glass Full 2.0
Back in 2018 one of my best friends asked me to officiate her wedding. Glass Full didn’t exist then, I was still in my 2014-2019 phase of trying desperately to figure out what I was meant to be doing. Searching for purpose looked like a lot of different things for me, but mostly it consisted of directly ignoring the obvious and forgetting that purpose can look like so many things, it isn’t always a destination.
When I was asked to officiate a wedding, it felt like a very loud “YES”. I loved everything about the process of bringing the ceremony to life. Interviewing the couple and piecing together their story, weaving together a narrative with touches of humour and powerful sentiment. Piecing together just the right words to capture the truth and essence of their love. Though the officiating part did bring some nerves and wasn’t perfect, I loved that, too. I remember thinking “this is my thing, this is what I have to do.”
With some administrative hurdles and the passing of time, my officiating dreams were put on the back-burner, but I think that spark was part of what led to the creation and launch of Glass Full in May of the following year.
Last year, another best friend asked me to officiate their wedding and it ignited the same feelings of deep purpose and flow. This time - with a lot of personal evolution, soul-searching, a pandemic, and two years into Glass Full - I was ready to heed the call and figure out what it might look like to explore the idea of creating rituals and ceremonies.
With some nudging from a dear friend who gave me the language to describe what I wanted to do, Glass Full 2.0 was born.
By the end of this year I’ll be wrapping up my course to become a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant with a specialization in ceremonies across the life-cycle.
In the spirit of speaking things into existence, here’s a scary and vulnerable list of what I hope my future looks like:
I am a ritual artisan. Together, we custom create rich and meaningful rituals that honour, celebrate, support, and anchor.
I write ceremonies. For your wedding, for the celebration you’re having for your best friend’s new job, for transgender people who are stepping into who they are, for saying goodbye; to a home, a relationship, a beloved pet, a season in your life. I work with you to write ceremonies that reflect and honour the full experience of our humanity.
I officiate ceremonies for all of the above and more. I am amazed at being welcomed into your communities and the ways you allow me to hold space with and for you.
I host regular journaling workshops and mindfulness sessions among other events that are rooted in soul deep self-care.
I have a Fall and Spring retreat every year, and perhaps one in an international location.
There’s more to this list, but I’m all about the baby steps. I’m so thrilled (and scared) to finally be sharing this next step with you and I’m so grateful for the love and support as I step into something new.
