The Space Between

For when things are challenging and changing and you're expecting yourself to just glide right through:

Life is full of transitions, and the space in between can be hard. Be gentle with yourself as you're passing through.

I am prone to being very hard on myself, and most of the time I'm not even aware of it. We become so accustomed to the voices in our heads and the expectations they hold. This harsh, unyielding, and critical voice just becomes normal.

That doesn't mean I can't learn new ways of operating.

A practice I've adopted is the self check-in. It looks like being mindful of my thought track at each turn & transition and evaluating whether there's space to offer myself more grace. My favourite mantra during times of transition is "you've never done this before". This reminds me that I am learning, I deserve to be handled with care.
